Color, texture and form inspired the nonobjective narrative of “Refined and Resilient.”
As a piece of metal, gold goes through its own process of becoming refined by fire.
As humans, we experience a continuous process of adversity and prosperity that refines us.
During adversity, some humans recoil and close themselves off to the world.
Closure and seclusion is depicted by the closed position of the book.
By opening ourselves back up, we begin the journey of resilience to reach prosperity.
Vulnerability is depicted by the opened position of the book.
Cycles of adversity and prosperity are depicted through the up and down motion of the book’s form and inner texture.
